Days 6 & 7 – Mount Rainier
Mount Rainier is massive. We were lucky enough to view it from several different vantage points: our plane, from Seattle, and then up close in Mount Rainier National Park. Each time it took our breath away.
Someone explained that one reason it might appear larger than other mountains/volcanoes of around the same size is because it rises directly from sea level. As someone who knows very little about mountains (I’m more of a flat-land, ocean kind of girl), I’ll take their word for it and continue to be awed.
We only had one day in Mount Rainier National Park, so we chose to split our time between a scenic drive and a few short hikes. We were pleasantly surprised to find that the annual wildflower bloom, which we thought we had missed, was still in full swing.
Next up, a quick break from our tent as we explore Portland, Oregon.
Love from our portable office/rental car,
