Tunnel Beach was one of the first places we visited on our New Zealand road trip and when we arrived I had no idea what to expect. Even though the entrance sign said “Allow 1 hour”, you could see that it was a steep downhill walk and everyone on their way back up looked red-faced, out-of-breath, and incredibly relieved to be at the top.
As we started the trek down, I kept thinking to myself “This better be worth it”. Along the way some kind soul read my mind and responded out loud “Don’t worry, it’s worth it” with a smile.
Wow, were they right.
We rounded a corner and the view was absolutely breathtaking. So breathtaking, that I dragged Christopher back at 5am the next morning to catch the sunrise. (Me, willingly up before sunrise? – That’s how you know it is good!)

It has been my favorite sunrise so far in our travels and one of my top 10 favorite places visited so far. Enjoy!

I literally LOL’ed at “…you could see that it was a steep downhill walk and everyone on their way back up looked red-faced, out-of-breath, and incredibly relieved to be at the top.” I’m having sudden flashbacks to DC on July 4th hahahahaha. As always, these pictures are breathtaking. Love you guys!

Awww, thanks! I definitely plan on framing at least one of these — I just have to find a home to hang them in first. 🙂
